Juve Patent has published its UK rankings for 2022 in which EIP's litigation and filing practices are ranked.

EIP’s Litigation practice is ranked four stars (out of five) with editorial commenting that ‘this IP boutique has carved out a solid position among the challengers of the market leaders in just a few years.’ The editorial mentions last year’s ‘attention-grabbing FRAND cases, following the double success before the Supreme Court in the high-profile SEP cases for Conversant and Unwired Planet in 2020’. It also notes that EIP’s expertise in SEPs is also being used ‘to broaden the client base away from NPEs to include implementers’. ‘With the two locations and the mixed approach of the UK team, EIP has a much better starting position for cross-border disputes and the UPC than other London boutiques with a single office policy’.

Head of Litigation, Gary Moss is listed as a leading individual for litigation who “has advanced law on FRAND” and is noted as a renowned partner leading the team.

In addition to EIP’s patent litigation ranking, the patent filing team is also recommended for Medical technology; Digital communication and computer technology; and Electronics. In addition, two partners are listed as recommended individuals: Darren Smyth for Chemistry and Digital communication and computer technology; and Jerome Spaargaren for Digital communication and computer technology and Electronics who is noted as “thorough, does comprehensive work”.

Trade Secrets: Navigating geopolitical risks and IP theft in the semiconductor industry
04 November 2025
Semiconductors have always been a critical technology but have grown significantly in strategic importance in recent years. They have become the key building block in developing and existing markets, including quantum computing, edge computing, AI, IoT, automotive, cellular data technology, smartphones, robotics, and many more. The complex designs and innovations that power semiconductor manufacturing are invaluable both to the world’s economy and technological advancement. Consequently, the semiconductor industry has found itself at the centre of geopolitical tensions, especially between the United States and China. It has become a prime target for cyberattacks and intellectual-property (IP) theft. As such, companies operating in this area must be more vigilant in protecting their intellectual assets.
