As Business Development Manager, you will lead strategic initiatives that drive expansion, deepen client relationships, and enhance the firm’s competitive positioning. This role will suit a proactive, collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. You will take ownership of high-impact projects, mentor colleagues across the Marketing Business Development (M BD) team, and champion best practices that align with EIP’s broader business objectives. Working closely with sector groups and senior stakeholders, you will shape and execute BD programmes that deliver measurable outcomes in client acquisition, retention, and brand visibility. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Business Development, you will collaborate with fee-earners, support functions, and leadership to ensure BD efforts are data-informed, client-centric, and aligned with EIP’s strategic priorities across the UK, US, Sweden, and Germany. Strategic Leadership Ownership Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of BD initiatives for key target areas. Take ownership of major projects, in line with the M BD strategy, ensuring delivery against objectives and measurable outcomes. Develop a deep understanding of the firm’s services and the competitive landscape. Manage various projects at once and work within the team’s project managements tools which include Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Planner. Business Development Sector Support Develop and implement coordinated BD programmes for target areas, focusing on new business generation, client retention, and increased market visibility. Create and implement business development strategies to drive growth and meet company objectives. Advise fee-earners on BD strategy internationally, leveraging market insights and data to inform decision-making. Identify new BD opportunities and work with the M BD Assistant to research target markets and prospective clients to find new business. Client Care, Relationship Management Elumni Lead client care initiatives including events. Collaborate with fee-earners to design and deliver tailored BD activities, such as in-house training, networking events, and cross-selling opportunities. Manage EIP’s Elumni (alumni) communications and outreach plan, ensuring regular, impactful communications and engagement. Manage the development of the new Elumni portal. Pitching Proposal Management Lead the preparation of high-impact pitch materials for existing and prospective clients using existing templates. Maintain and enhance the pitch database and log, analysing win/loss rates and identifying areas for improvement. Provide guidance and quality assurance on pitch submissions and presentations. Collaborate with fee-earners and Finance, where appropriate, to ensure the profitability of proposals. Directory Submissions, Awards Rankings Lead the process for directory submissions and awards including referee management, and editorial summaries. Ensure marketing materials and online profiles are updated with latest rankings and quotes, working with the M BD Assistant needed. CRM Become a key player in our internal Microsoft Dynamics group and provide insight on behalf of the M BD team to this group and insight from the group to the M BD team. Champion Microsoft Dynamics development initiatives. Run new client interviews with fee-earners and track new client activity in Microsoft Dynamics. Run Microsoft Dynamics training for new fee-earners as well as LinkedIn Sales Navigator training. Manage the events calendar in Microsoft Dynamics and ensure team members correctly input information into the calendar. Reporting Design and own the firm’s return on investment tracker for BD initiatives. Provide monthly reporting on BD activity to the Head of M BD for inclusion in the team’s firmwide report and provide activity overviews in the M BD team’s weekly meeting. Monitor budgets and track costs of BD activity in the team’s budget tracker spreadsheet. Work with the M BD Assistant for analytics or further data required.
