As Litigation Practice Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the litigation practice operates efficiently and effectively, leading the team with a focus on continuous improvement, process excellence, and outstanding service delivery. The Litigation Practice Manager also has a role providing the ‘voice of the Litigation function’ in cross-departmental forums, ensuring the team and their perspectives are understood, heard and that their viewpoints are taken into consideration. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Practice Operations Service Delivery Serve as the first point of contact for operational queries from internal teams and suppliers; triage and resolve issues or escalate to partners as needed. Establish and run monthly practice operations meetings with partners and MA leads; circulate agendas, track actions, and provide progress updates. Coordinate UK–DE ways of working to ensure consistent processes and coverage; act as the escalation point for admin issues impacting the practice. People Leadership, Staffing Development Lead and develop the Litigation Paralegal team (UK) and coordinate with the team in Germany, including hiring, onboarding, probation, objective-setting, 1:1s, performance reviews, and progression pathways. Manage workload and capacity across the practice, allocate work, balance peaks, and use a workload-tracking system to ensure effective utilisation. Create and maintain mentoring guidelines and a trainee-paralegal interface to support development and ensure trainees experience the paralegal workflow. Embed EIP’s Support Staff Tenets—Technical Proficiency, Client Focus, Knowledge Learning, People Leadership, Firm Custodianship, and Collaboration—in team routines and development. Financial Management Billing Hygiene Partner with Billing/Accounts to monitor time entry, WIP, and counsel disbursements; drive timely, accurate billing; maintain escalation paths for issues. Contribute to practice budgeting and targets and produce operational dashboards for leadership. HR Partnering Culture Support HR processes, including disciplinary, probation, appraisals, and leavers, maintaining a supportive, people-first culture and helping manage change. Build relationships across EIP, fostering trust, alignment, and shared working practices with HR, IT, Finance, and other functions. Provide support on recruitment. External Liaison, Suppliers Counsel Coordinate with barristers’ chambers and counsel on logistics and payments, working with Accounts/Billing to keep fees moving and suppliers informed. Represent the litigation team in support staff meetings. Marketing, Profile Directories Partner with partners, BD, and Marketing to prepare legal directory submissions, track matters and referees, and support departmental BD plans and networking to maintain a strong practice profile. General / Additional Duties Be the first point of call for Consiglieri for the support staff. Assist partners as required and provide general troubleshooting. Organise the department Christmas party (with assistance as needed). Arrange client dinners as and when required by partners. Manage the company credit card for use by the litigation paralegals.
