Joel Todd

Joel joined EIP as Patent Scientist with a background in Physics. He gained a First Class MPhys degree from the University of Oxford, with a focus on condensed matter and atmospheric physics. For his master’s project, Joel wrote a computer program displaying the time evolution of neighbouring atomic spins in ferromagnets. This allowed for the visualisation of the spin dynamics of Dirac magnons on a ferromagnetic honeycomb lattice, which have dispersion linear in wavevector, in analogy to the dispersion of electrons in graphene.

Joel is currently based in Tokyo, Japan, where alongside his day-to-day drafting and prosecution work he engages directly with our Japanese clients. Joel taught himself Japanese to fluency in just three years, before moving to Japan.
