EIP Helps City of Bristol College with employability and innovation

EIP has been working with social enterprise Working Knowledge to help inspire young people at City of Bristol College and instil employability skills. Working Knowledge (@WK_Experts) run a series of activities with business experts that help connect education and business.

EIP attended a SPLASH event on 14 September 2011. At the event, business and Information Technology students were taken through a series of innovation exercises to come up with new products or services that could make life easier or more fun. The innovation exercises involved pitching an idea, explaining business challenges, and developing operational plans. The event culminated in student teams making a ‘Dragon’s Den’-style presentation before business experts.

Following the event, EIP again worked with Working Knowledge to record a video piece that will be used at City of Bristol College to provide a qualification in employability skills.

Ben Hoyle from EIP said: “The event was a great way to give something back to the community and was good fun too. With youth unemployment rising in the UK, EIP are proud to be helping young people understand the world of business and learn the skills that are important to employers.”
