EIP opens Cardiff office

Rapidly expanding patent and trademark attorney firm EIP has opened an office in Cardiff.

EIP provides intellectual property services for customers looking to secure protection for their invention or brand and is highly-respected for its expertise in software, computing, and optics. EIP already has offices in London and Bath.

The office on Castle Street in Cardiff is run by senior associate Chris Price and overseen by partner Matt Lawman. Welshman Chris moved from the London office to set up the Cardiff base, and has since taken on an experienced associate, Gareth Edwards, who has expertise in optics, photonics and optoelectronics.

Chris deals primarily with patents in the electronics sector, including technology relating to data storage, imaging devices, mobile-messaging technology, computer software and medical devices, and also deals with mechanical subject matter.

As well as being close to the headquarters of the UK Intellectual Property Office in Newport, Chris said the decision to open an office in Wales was motivated by client care.

“Being based in Cardiff means we can remain in close proximity to our local clients. Having grown significantly in London and expanded into other areas of the UK, it shows EIP are committed to providing a face-to-face service to clients.

“The fact we have an office in Cardiff has already proved a significant benefit to our new and existing clients in the South Wales region.”

As well as being strong in software, electronics, and optics, EIP has highly-experienced attorneys in the fields of mobile technology, life sciences and medical devices, and green technology. EIP acts on all aspects of trademark law and practice, including clearance of new marks, registration, watching and enforcement. Additional services include patent searching and patent portfolio management.
