Callum Docherty

Callum specialises in drafting and prosecuting software, AI/machine learning, and physics-based inventions. With over a decade in the patent profession, he is experienced in preparing patent applications to meet the varying requirements of US and European practice and advising clients on international patent strategy.

With a background in physics, Callum is well placed to advise on patent matters in a wide variety of technical fields. He has particular experience with autonomous vehicles, electronic devices, user interfaces, quantum computing, databases, telecommunications, bioinformatics, semiconductors and green technologies.

Callum is experienced with all stages of the patent process, including EPO Oppositions and Appeals. He enjoys working closely with companies and inventors to provide tailored advice based on their individual commercial aims.

Before joining the patent profession, Callum studied graphene and other novel 2D materials using terahertz spectroscopy, obtaining a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Oxford.
