Derk Visser presented with Lifetime Achievement Award
Derk Visser was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to European patent law at the Managing IP Awards in London last night.
Derk, who has been at EIP for half of his 30 years in IP, having previously worked in-house at Philips, continues to advise on cases and is a recognised authority on the European Patent Convention (EPC).
He has taught European patent law all over Europe and is well-known among European patent professionals and trainees as the author of one of the foremost commentaries on the EPC: Visser’s Annotated European Patent Convention, a book first published in 1994 and updated annually, which Derk continues to edit.
After being presented with his award, Derk said: “I was thrilled to receive the Award for Lifetime Achievement from Managing IP in recognition of a highly fulfilling career in IP.”
