EIP is proud to have individuals ranked amongst the world’s top patent professionals and intellectual property firms in the IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners.

The firm itself is also recommended as a leading intellectual property practice, among a handful of UK-based firms recommended in the guide for patent prosecution. EIP is by far the youngest firm recommended, with many older traditional firms failing to be ranked.

Researchers said EIP was “at the forefront” of the industry, with a “commercially orientated and technically accomplished” style. The formation of EIP Legal, incorporating IP litigation solicitors to afford clients the full range of patent-related services as an integrated group, was noted as a ground-breaking move in the United Kingdom.

Partners Jerome Spaargaren and Gary Moss were singled out for their expertise, both being named within the top 1000 individuals worldwide, with Gary ranked as within the top 40 go-to patent litigators in the UK, and Jerome recommended as one of the top 20 individuals in the UK for patent prosecution. The rankings are based upon interviews with attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in-house counsel to gather feedback on the leading firms and individuals in 33 of the world’s most important jurisdictions, and 16 US states.

The IAM Patent 1000 is the third legal services guide to favourably recommend EIP in recent months, following the publication of the 2012 Chambers & Partners and 2011 Legal 500 guides which both highlighted key developments in the firm, with Jerome Spaargaren, Heather McCann, and Andrew Sharples personally cited.

Jerome Spaargaren said: “It’s particularly pleasing to see EIP given such high praise on the basis of first-hand accounts from both our peers and clients, and to be ranked alongside more well-established practices. As a firm we continue to evolve, and so to receive recognition for recent developments, such as our IP litigation practice EIP Legal, is enormously encouraging.”

Alastair Mitchell, head of research on the IAM Patent 1000, said: “There are thousands of practices claiming leadership in this complex field; yet finding the right specialist remains a challenge. To meet this need, the IAM Patent 1000 has delivered the most in-depth coverage of the market yet undertaken, including our first analysis of prosecution practices. The listings and editorial provide readers with a truly comprehensive overview of patent services around the world; as a result, the IAM Patent 1000 is the essential guide to finding those setting the pace in the patents game.”
