Building a Resilient Quantum Patent Portfolio: Winning the Race to File First

EIP attorney Iain Russell’s band won a coveted Battle of the Bands competition at a charity event hosted by law firm CMS Cameron McKenna.

With Iain on bass, his band Ubermanoeuvre fought off competition from other firms of patent attorneys, including Reddie & Grose, Gill Jennings & Every, and Kilburn & Strode, in front of a 300-strong audience at 93 Feet East, on Brick Lane in London on 29 September.

Each band played a 20-minute set in front of the panel of judges made up of representatives from The Lawyer, Special Olympics GB, and music producers Unit 13. Ubermanoeuvre’s eclectic choice of covers included ‘Song 2’ by Blur, Lady GaGa’s ‘Just Dance’, and ‘Basket Canon’ – a mix of ‘Basket Case’ by Green Day and ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’ by Johan Pachelbel.

A sterling performance by Ubermanoeuvre proved enough to take the title and earn them the chance to return to the stage for an encore. The night was a huge success and £3,325 was raised for Special Olympics GB.
