Biography

I have an academic background in pharmacology and molecular biology, obtaining a BSc in Pharmacology and an MRes focusing on cancer from Newcastle University. My modules covered a variety of topics including drug discovery and development, carcinogenesis and anticancer drugs, immunology, cell signalling, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology.

During my undergraduate degree in pharmacology, I gained further experience in bacterial cell biology, when undertaking a lab-based research project investigating the role of cell envelope modifications in antibiotic resistance.

Following this, I completed a Master of Research degree, focusing on cancer. This centred around a 6-month lab-based research project on synthetic lethality for the development of novel treatments for medulloblastoma.

Prior to joining EIP, I worked at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology as a non-lab-based technician, assisting in the preparation for the institute's move to the new Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health.
