Biography

Luke is a UK and European Patent Attorney with over eight years’ experience in the patent profession and two years’ experience in the legal profession.

Luke has experience in drafting and prosecuting patents in Europe, the US, China, and the UK where he has advised clients ranging from individuals, to SMEs and multinational corporations in dealing with patents across a number of fields, with a particular focus on software, electronics and mechanical inventions. His experience spans a variety of fields including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber-security, construction equipment and medical devices. In particular, Luke has experience prosecuting patents relating to the efficient encoding of information for transmission over wired and wireless networks, as well as improvements to network architectures and topologies.

Prior to joining EIP, Luke gained experience in prosecuting and drafting UK, PCT and European patent applications, and participated in Oral Proceedings at the EPO. Luke also worked closely with a start-up company operating in the artificial intelligence and machine learning fields, providing tailored advice and helping to grow their patent portfolio until the start-up company was acquired by a multi-national social media company.

Luke completed a Masters degree in Computer Systems and Software Engineering from the University of York, before gaining a Graduate Diploma in Law and a Legal Practice Course from BPP University in Leeds. Luke also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property from Bournemouth University.
