Simon Carobene is a UK and European Patent Attorney with experience across the mechanical, materials science and chemistry sectors. He advises on a broad range of technologies, including energy storage, medical devices, polymers, food products and consumer appliances.
Simon joined EIP from the IP department at Dyson, where he gained first-hand experience of the commercial and strategic considerations involved in protecting innovation within a global technology company. He previously trained in private practice and was seconded to a nanotechnology company developing liquid-repellent coatings for electronic devices.
He works with a wide variety of clients, including in-house IP departments, universities and early-stage start-up companies. He particularly enjoys working closely with inventors and commercial teams to develop effective IP strategies that support both technical innovation and commercial objectives.
Before entering the patent profession, Simon Carobene completed a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at the University of Bristol. He also holds a first class MChem degree from Cardiff University, which included an industrial placement at AstraZeneca.
