Biography

Sofia Jernberg is an EPAC certified Senior Paralegal at EIP Sweden, based in Stockholm. She started her IP career at the Nordics’ largest IP firm where she quickly developed a genuine interest in IP. Since, she has continued to develop as a patent paralegal and passed the EPAC exam in 2024 before joining EIP.

Showcasing her dedication to the profession, she is a board member of SAIPA, the Swedish Association for IP Administrators.

Since entering the industry, she has worked with clients and foreign agents around the world, developing an awareness for the different demands of different jurisdictions. Using her Japanese language and cultural expertise she specialises in working with Japanese clients and agents.

During the sunrise period when the Unitary Patent and UPC were being introduced, she was a part of the UPC Specialist group and opt-out task force at her previous firm.

After becoming a paralegal, she has been involved not only in client/prosecution work, but also in the start-up sphere in Stockholm where she has acted a feedback provider and support for start-ups competing in Venture Cup.  

Broadening her understanding of the IP world, she has experience being seconded part-time to a major industry client where she supports the in-house paralegal team with their patent portfolio.
