Building a Resilient Quantum Patent Portfolio: Winning the Race to File First

Partner Darren Smyth presented to a selected group of European Patent Office examiners in Munich on developments in European design law.

Darren’s talk at the EPO on 26 March concerned Registered Community Designs in particular. As well as an overview of the relevant law and key cases, the presentation analysed design protection in the digital space, the boundaries and overlap between design law and patent law, and looked at the ongoing litigation between Apple and Samsung.

EIP named one of Europe's leading patent firms for the eighth year running, with gold in five sectors

EIP has again been named one of Europe's leading patent law firms by the Financial Times. In its 2026 ranking, EIP earned gold in five of the six technology sectors, and silver in the sixth, Materials and Nanotechnology. It is the eighth year running the firm has featured, every year since the ranking began in 2019.
