EIP have hired a senior trademark attorney from international law firm Mishcon de Reya.

Simon Stanes joins EIP as head of the firm’s trademark practice, EIP Brands. Simon has more than 15 years of experience in private practice, having also worked for Marks & Clerk and J A Kemp & Co.

Simon, who is based at EIP’s London office, specialises in trademark prosecution and portfolio management. He has represented clients before the UK IPO and OHIM, filing and prosecuting applications, handling oppositions, cancellation and revocation actions, and appeals. He provides strategic advice on trademark disputes, including infringement and passing off, trade mark aspects of copyright, and on unusual trademarks such as pure shape or colour marks.

Simon has worked for many clients in finance, fashion and accessories, pharmaceuticals, engineering and IT, the music and media industries, often with a multinational dimension. He is a contributing editor to The Trade Mark Handbook.
