Podcast: Building an AI-Native Law Firm

June 26, 2026

Our partner Laurence Brown joined the Technically Legal podcast to talk about what it really takes to become an AI-native law firm, and how we're doing it through Visser AI.

Laurence has spent 25 years as a patent lawyer. In the episode, he explains that being AI-native isn't about prompting a general artificial intelligence (AI) model. It means redesigning how patent work actually gets done, from drafting to prosecution.

He also talks about Visser AI, our hybrid intelligence service named after the patent attorney Derk Visser. Visser AI uses tools built specifically for patent law, not general-purpose ones, so we can work faster without losing quality. That efficiency is also changing how we price our services, moving away from billable hours towards fixed fees.

In the episode, Laurence and host Chad Main cover:

  • What it actually means to be an AI-native law firm
  • How Visser AI is redesigning patent drafting and prosecution
  • Why fixed fees are becoming possible without cutting quality
  • Why purpose-built AI tools outperform general models for patent law
  • How European patent regulation is adapting to AI
