EIP announces that Gemma Wooden has been promoted to partner as of 1st April 2020.

Having joined EIP as a trainee in 2012, Gemma has risen through the ranks of the firm, specialising in electronics and software, particularly in video and image processing, artificial intelligence and electronic devices.

Gemma is highly skilled in the telecommunications sector and has been listed on Managing IP’s Rising Star list for the past three years. She has worked both on secondment with in-house legal teams at a number of multinational telecommunication firms including BT, and on contentious matters alongside the EIP Legal team. This has included patent litigation before the UK High Court and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Prior to joining EIP, Gemma worked as a research fellow based at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, home of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). She continued the work of her DPhil towards the discovery of the Higgs boson.

Gemma Wooden, partner at EIP, said:

“I am extremely proud to become a partner at EIP. Having been at the firm for eight years, I have had the opportunity to advise a fantastic array of interesting and challenging work for different clients. With EIP approaching its 20th anniversary, it has been an honour to grow with the firm.”

Matthew Blaseby, partner at EIP, said:

“I am delighted to see Gemma join the partnership at EIP – it has been a pleasure watching her hone her skills over the past eight years. Like myself Gemma is an example of EIP’s commitment to developing talent with us both having worked our way up from a trainee to becoming a partner. I look forward to seeing Gemma grow in her new role.”
