Alex specialises in patent litigation and strategy, including infringement and validity actions in the UK courts, and has advised on a number of major disputes involving cross-border intellectual property issues. His practice covers a range of industries, including telecoms, electronics and pharmaceuticals, and has concerned patents for chemical compositions, electronic and mechanical devices, and various aspects of mobile phone systems, including standard essential patents. Alex also advises on IP licensing and commercial contracts and has covered trade mark, copyright, confidential information and passing off disputes. Alex has acted in proceedings before the English High Court, Court of Appeal, Copyright Tribunal, EUIPO and in ICC arbitration.
Alex has been recognised as a Managing IP “Rising Star” for 2022 and 2023 and has been highlighted in the Legal 500 UK 2024 as a “key lawyer” with the following testimonial: “Alex Morgan is tremendously effective in the detailed analysis and consideration of case management he brings to patent litigation.”
Alex is a qualified Solicitor-Advocate and alongside his LLB, has a BSc in materials science and engineering from MIT.

- Acting for Solas OLED as part of its multi-jurisdictional patent dispute with Samsung involving OLED display technology.
- Acting for Vestel Elektronik in an action seeking a FRAND declaration against Access Advance LLC.
- Acting for Conversant in infringement proceedings against Apple.
- Acting for ClearCorrect in its defence against allegations of infringement brought by Align Technologies.
- Acting for L’Oréal in an action seeking revocation of a patent for the use of maleic acid in hair treatment against LIQWD.
- Advising on matters of patent infringement and validity including providing freedom to operate opinions in relation to electronic and mechanical products.
- Acting in proceedings in the Copyright Tribunal and the Court of Appeal relating to online copyright infringement.
- Acting in trademark cancellation proceedings before the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
- Managing global IP enforcement and brand protection programmes (including advising on trademark infringement and passing off) for leading international electronics and fashion brands.
